We wanted to do something different for San Diego Beer Week this year so we came up with a Macaroon & Beer Pairing featuring housemade macaroons and Modern Times beer.
We'll feature the following pairings:
Fruitlands | Passion Fruit Macaroon
Fruitlands is tart, fruity, & frighteningly delicious. The sour, salty base beer lays down the funky refreshment, while a heavy dose of passion fruit and guava turns the whole thing into a wall-to-wall tropical fruit fiesta. It's a marvelous mix of elements that collides with your mouth like a fruit-filled asteroid of flavor traveling at the supersonic speed of party. 4.8%
Spaceship Earth | Lemongrass & Ginger Macaroon
Our relentless pursuit of the juiciest of hop profiles led us to this outrageously tasty pale ale. Big, mouthwatering flavors of tropical fruit and citrus explode from the glass, fairly commanding that the drinker return to its mysterious, hazy depths for further exploration. 5.2%
Blazing World | Vanilla & Beer Caramel Macaroon
This beer is the stickiest of the icky. It's a luxuriously hoppy amber loaded up with intemperate quantities of Nelson, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, which are some of the fruitiest, dankest hops sweet, sweet money can buy. Despite its amber hue, Blazing World is pleasingly dry, sporting a lightly bready malt backbone that serves as platform for the huge & complex hop profile. 6.8%
City Of The Dead | Mexican Chocolate Macaroon
This groundbreaking export stout is brewed with house-roasted, bourbon barrel-aged coffee. Yup, bourbon barrel-aged coffee. This unique process imbues our coffee with the incredible flavor and aroma of a freshly emptied bourbon barrel, which carries over magnificently into this rich, chewy beer. Unlike any other beer in the world, City of the Dead is immensely flavorful and unforgettably delicious. 7.5%
The Bruery has long been impressing craft beer fans with their adventurous beers. We at Brothers Provisions decided to get even more adventurous and craft a specialty pizza using beer from The Bruery. We'll be featuring special offerings from The Bruery, including REST, a rare barrel-aged dark ale available for purchase only at Brothers Provisions!
Join us in hosting Founders Brewing Company for a beer and food pairing dinner. We'll be serving a five-course dinner alongside seven Founders beers. Guests will also go home with a Founders 13 ounce tulip glass.
Introduction Beer | DKML
Here you have what could be the first malt liquor worthy of a glass. Typically a slighted style, we thought we would class it up with a stay in the wood and a healthy dose of dry-hopping. A huge hit of corn gives this one a smooth sweetness while its time spent aging in bourbon barrels will give you reason to share. Be warned: this ones a pry-off, not a twist-off. 14.2%
First Course | All Day IPA | Garlic Cheddar IPA Soup
The beer youve been waiting for. Keeps your taste satisfied while keeping your senses sharp. An all-day IPA naturally brewed with a complex array of malts, grains and hops. Balanced for optimal aromatics and a clean finish. The perfect reward for an honest days work and the ultimate companion to celebrate lifes simple pleasures. 4.7%
Second Course | Dirty Bastard & Backwoods Bastard | Phyllo Lamb Samosas
This course will include both the original and barrel-aged variant of Founders scotch ale. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark fruit. Its a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate. 8.5% & 11.2%
Third Course | Centennial IPA | Wedge Salad with Centennial IPA Blue Cheese Dressing
Get ready to bask in the glory of the frothy heads floral bouquet. Relish the citrus accents from the abundance of dry hopping. This ones sweet, yet balanced. Malty undertones shake hands with the hop character for a finish that never turns too bitter. 7.2%
Fourth Course | Porter | Beef & Porter Stew
Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. Its a lover, not a fighter. 6.5%

Chaos Is A Friend Of Mine
Chaos is a Friend of Mine is the result of blending barrels of our base beer to produce the flavor profile of a Belgian Lambic. We begin with a traditional grain bill composed of pilsner malt and raw wheat, which is then boiled for an extended amount of time with aged hops. The wort is then fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels with our diverse house culture. Chaos ensues from the countless strains of yeast and bacteria fighting for dominance, and after 9 - 14 months in the barrel, we introduce the power of blending to bring order back, ultimately creating a beer that's greater than the sum of its parts. Funk takes center stage in this brew, with notes of barnyard, stone fruit, and aged hops. A balanced and clean acidity make this beer tart, yet extremely palatable, with a full body and crisp dry finish. (6.5% ABV)
Careful With That Pineapple Guava, Eugene
Careful with that Pineapple Guava, Eugene is part of our quest to experiment with rare and unique fruits. We put one pound per gallon fresh feijoa (aka Pineapple Guava) onto some of our lambic-inspired base beer for two months before packaging. The beer has a bright tropical fruit aroma, reminiscent of pineapple, guava, apple, and mint. Tastes like artificial sour candy, sweet and tart, accompanied by big fruit character. (6.6% ABV)
Come In Grape, Your Time Is Up | Muscat Edition
'Come in Grape, Your Time is Up' is a seasonal series based around the grape harvest. In fall we collaborate with various wineries to create beers that blur the lines between wine and beer. In this version we partnered up with Castoro Cellars from Paso Robles, CA and used late harvest Muscat grapes. We first created a blend of one year old lambic-inspired base beer, then let that beer sit on the grape juice and must for 8 weeks to go through a secondary fermentation. This golden beer has sweet perfumy and floral aromas reminiscent of a desert wine. The flavor is tart and crisp with some tannic and oak qualities, finishing fairly dry with a lingering fruitiness. (8.5% ABV)
Into The Great Unknown
A dry-hopped lambic-inspired ale in which we utilize a different hop varietal for each batch. We begin by carefully selecting and blending barrels that have been aging for 9 to 14 months. Then, once the desired combination is chosen, we dry hop in the blending tank with a specific variety of hops (in this version, Mosaic), and bottle condition with wine yeast for at least three months. In this first rendition of Into the Great Unknown, the aromas of tropical fruit from the hops work seamlessly to accentuate the funk and acidity of the underlying blend. (6.5% ABV)
A while back we made 'Strawberry Provence' as a single barrel experiment and loved it so much we decided to make a full batch. It is a blend of one year old lambic-inspired base beer, aged on three pounds per gallon of whole frozen strawberries for two months, and a touch of Herbes de Provence added right before packaging. With big jammy strawberry aromas, there's no mistaking what fruit we used in this beer. Sweet, tart, and funky, with slight notes of fresh herbs on the finish that compliments that juicy strawberry character. (6.9% ABV)
Four 5-oz draft pours with cheese & charcuterie pairings. $18.
This rich and lusciously decadent imperial stout is aged on the choicest cacao nibs from Ecuador and bourbon vanilla beans from Madagascar. (10.5% ABV)
Lone Wolf McHop IPA
This lone wolf of an IPA was brewed with a variety of new and experimental hops: Idaho 7, Equinox, & Styrian Wolf. (6.5% ABV)
Cryo Me A River IPA
West Coast-style IPA with Mosaic and Simcoe hops (7.1% ABV)
Hops Of Brixton
The Hops of Brixton is a classic British-style extra special bitter (ESB). It starts with British Maris Otter malt for a toasty backbone thats accented with light and dark British caramel malts, adding distinctive toffee notes. Flaked barley adds a gentle silkiness to the mouthfeel. Hops from the East Kent region of England create a floral and earthy hop profile to perfectly balance the malt. Londons calling!(6.1% ABV)
We're pleased as pie to announce that we will be hosting El Segundo Brewing Company right here at Brothers Provisions on Saturday, May 27th!
They're coming in full force and bringing the following beers:
Barrel-Aged Crude Stout
Dense, black opaque with slight hints of red at the edges. An unyielding wave of chocolate & coffee tones pervade your senses with a deft balance of bitter and sweet dancing on your tongue and leaves you with a sensation as smooth as silk. (11.5% ABV)
Beginner's Luck IPA
Collaboration with Green Cheek Beer Company's Evan Price (formerly of Noble). Pils malt base with a hop cocktail including El Dorado, Chinook Simcoe, Bitter Gold, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin. (8.8% ABV)
A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong American IPA. Those Kiwis (the people, not the fruit) have been sending us some awesome hop varieties. Ka-Pau! Hopman blessed you with a healthy dose of Rakau in this West Coast / New Zealand India Pale Ale. Stay vigilant Hopman, and protect us from Crystal malt. (7.3% ABV)
Mosaic hops take center stage in this truly West Coast India Pale Ale. The perfect companion for enjoying a sunny day on Main Street with us in our charming little down, affectionately known as "Mayberry By The Sea." (7.2% ABV)
Casa Azul Lager
Refreshing Vienna Lager (4.8% ABV)
We will also be serving Brisket Cheese Fries made with El Segundo beer!
Treat your taste buds and come join us!
That's right! Modern Times is heading to Brothers Provisions and they're bringing some magical beers with them. Spend your Saturday afternoon on our patio enjoying the following Modern Times offerings:
Symmetric Orchestra is an otherworldly sour beer fermented with over a dozen strains of Brettanomyces and aged on oak. After a careful kettle souring, this beer mingles with a veritable United Nations of funky cultures and wood until sufficient radness has been achieved. The resulting beer is sour, deeply funky and resoundingly delicious, with a quenching fruitiness and lingering oaky finish. It’s a psychedelic marmalade train in beer form. Drink it, and be excellent to each other.
DOUBLE DRY-HOPPED BLAZING WORLD
Blazing World is an aggressively hoppy beer that shares characteristics with both double IPAs and amber ales. It’s hopped with an excessive quantity of Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, giving it an intensely fruity, dank hop aroma, followed by a huge & complex hop flavor and a healthy dose of bitterness. Its amber body is deceptively dry, offering just enough malt backbone to support its distinctive and incredibly robust hop character.

Join us for San Diego Beer Week as we host The Bruery for a beer and cigar pairing!

Our Mélange series is a chance to roll out the barrels, roll up our sleeves and explore flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. French for “blend”, this mélange fuses the mature character of some of our most vintage barrels of barleywine and old ale with the dark depth of our imperial stouts, including both Tuesday-themed releases and Share This. This mélange is one for all, with rich, complex notes and the signature kiss of oak. 13.4%
Our Mélange series is a playground for exploring flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. We had a particularly good time playing with nuts and BBLs in this winning blend of barrel-aged beers from our 2016 staff blending competition. Fueled by cheeseburgers and inspired by rocky road, we folded walnuts, cacao nibs from TCHO and vanilla into rich, bourbon barrel-aged barleywine and old ale to mimic the flavors of the rich, nutty dessert. Lactose was added to impart a marshmallow character and an extra creamy mouthfeel. We’re pretty nuts about it, and we think you will be too. 14.8%
Barrel-Aged 5 Golden Rings
5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our '12 Days of Christmas' winter seasonal ale series. The only golden ale in the bunch, we spiced up the natural pause in the classic song with cinnamon, allspice and ginger along with the delicious sweet and tangy flavor of pineapple. The barrel aged edition has taken on notable flavors from the time spent in oak, adding a level of burnt wood, sweet boubron and under-ripe fruit. 16.2%
So Happens It's Tuesday
Our infamous Black Tuesday stout is named in honor of the great stock market crash of 1929. So Happens It’s Tuesday is similarly dark and delicious, but in a more affable format, reminding us that there is always a bit of good to be found within the bad. Things happen, life goes on. This beer can be enjoyed in all of those moments and seasons. 14.7%
Mash & Vanilla
This is our classic bourbon barrel-aged barleywine – kicked up a notch. We took Mash, already oaky, sticky and sweet, and amplified its barrel character with the addition of fresh vanilla beans. This vanilla prominence is complemented by the woody bourbon flavors and coconut notes that are imparted to the beer as part of its extensive maturation in oak bourbon barrels. Mash & Vanilla is best enjoyed fresh to experience the vanilla flavors at peak strength. 13.3%
Our Tonnellerie series is the perfect showcase of our “wildly traditional bière”. French for “cooperage”, each beer in the series shares one core trait: they were all fermented in oak. Beyond that, the recipes and styles are as unique as the cues they take from nature. Quadrupel Tonnellerie, a sour and funky barrel-fermented Belgian-style quadrupel with blackberries, is no exception. A style known for being at the more malty, complex and rich end of the Belgian strong ale spectrum, this quad revels in layers of dark fruit and figgy flavors, and complimentary undercurrents of oak. The natural esters from the Belgian yeast compliment the rustic, earthy and wild qualities derived from the barrels and nature – plus the piquant flavors from the fruit – for a dynamic flavor profile and mouthfeel that will evolve over time. 10.2%

HALIA & CAPRICHO DE CABRA-STUFFED PEPPADEW
Halia is a farmhouse ale aged in wine barrels with whole peaches, resulting in bright, effervescent fruit notes in a soft, hazy body that finishes slightly tart and sweet with the pleasant character of ripe, juicy peaches. Literally meaning “remembrance of a loved one” in Hawaiian, Halia was brewed in memory of the dear friend of one of our brewers who loved peaches.
GILLIAN & PANTALEO GOAT CHEESE
Inspired by an amuse bouche often prepared by the wife of one of our brewers, Gillian brings white pepper, strawberry, and honey to a harmonious blend. Partially aged in wine barrels, this Belgian style farmhouse ale is slightly tart and pleasantly sweet in a refreshingly effervescent body.
MADAME ROSE & ORANGE BLOSSOM HONEY CHEVRE
Madame Rose is a crimson colored Belgian style brown ale fermented with wild yeast and aged on cherries in wine barrels. Layers of malty complexity, sour cherry, spice and wood notes make Madame Rose an ideal beer to suggest to Bordeaux enthusiasts and beer drinkers fond of Belgian Kriek and Flanders Brown Ales.
JULIET & POINT REYES BLUE CHEESE
Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with blackberries, Juliet is a tart, fruity, complex ale. Notes of wood, tannin, dark fruit and spice make Juliet an ideal beer to suggest to Pinot Noir enthusiasts and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian sour ales.

On Friday, June 10th Brothers Provisions will be hosting Firestone Walker! Grab a beer and keep the logoed Firestone pint glass! We will be pouring the following beers:
Bretta Weisse: Firm estery notes of stone and tropical fruit lead to Funky, yeasty, citrus aromas. Soft cereal and Oak flavors are enveloped by a firm acidity and tartness. The finish is dry and crisp; a thoroughly enjoyable beverage. At 4.5% ABV, one could imagine enjoying several Bretta Weisse’s in the Tiergarten, or anywhere else. This Berliner Weisse inspired Wheat beer was aged in 1700 gal French Oak horizontal foeders for 8 months. (4.5% ABV)
Opal: Our interpretation of the rustic Wallonian Saison style is a harmonious blend of rustic grains, spicy yeast and unique sauvignon blanc tones. Inviting lemon grass and gooseberry meet peppery spice and fresh grain aromas. Spicy Belgian yeast create a complex yet dry and refreshing canvas with splashes of citrus and stone fruit with a bright tropical white wine finish. Hop bitterness is assertive yet harmonious rounding out slightly tart and refreshing. (7.5% ABV)
Wookey Jack: Wookey Jack is our first foray into the dark outer world of black IPAs. Rich dark malts and spicy rye careen into bold citrus laden hops creating a new dimension in IPA flavor. This brew has been left unfiltered and unfined to retain all of its texture and character. At 60 IBUs, Wookey Jack is gnarly on the outside yet complex and refined on the inside. (8.3% ABV)
Luponic Distortion: As many as nine different hops will be included in each release, with up to six used in the dry hopping alone. However, with each release, the brewing team is going to turn up the volume a different featured experimental hop, which will be dry hopped in greater quantity than the others. “We can completely evolve, change and redirect this thing as new hops come to us and as we get to know the hops better,” says Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “Luponic is this beer that can keep morphing and stay interesting and remain out in front of this crazy hop wave.” (5.9% ABV)
Join us on Friday, May 27th for Sierra Nevada Beer Camp! We'll be pouring all six Beer Camp beers on draft! Come enjoy the following great beers and grab some Sierra Nevada gear:
